..what kind of b*lls**t story would i have to come up with....and how much would this set me back?

it depends how long you have had the phone and how much credit you use i had a nokia 8800 and they made me put £30 in before they would issue the unlock code

i dont think your dumb
all you have to do is tell orange that you need to use your vodafone sim in your phone in certain areas that you cant receive an orange signal in and you dont want to have to carry 2 handsets
they will charge you £20 to give you the unlock code
you have to pay using a credit card
if you need any more info please ask in a more pleasent manner
