Does anyone know if it is possible to play mp3's as the message alert tones on the w850i?

You should be able to set one, although if you're on Vodafone there could be some restrictions due to their firmware. I can on my K750i

Goto settings
sounds and alerts
message alert
cursor down and then select bottom one and tehn the tune you wish to play
This was done on W850i connected to 02
