Hi,

Just wondering if its possible when on a contract with 02, to have a spent limit set. Just i cant spend over a strict amount so can they block any phone calls i make during the month if i hit the limit?

This can be done, but not 100% what network does it.

Try and remember my man! Or i could try giving Orange,02,T-Mobile,Vodofone and 3 a bell tomorrow and asking. Seems the best thing to do really just incase they've changed thier policies recently.

sorry its late, but this feature is not currently supported. There is a reason, which is far to complex to go into.

Basically, O2 is one network and it has various 'service providers' linking off them. The service provider is the billing company e.g. o2UK, o2 Prepay, o2 online, o2 retail etc etc etc...

When a customer makes a call, the call details sit on the Transmitter where the call was made, the call details are then sent off to the O2 network and is then filtered to the relevant service provider to bill the customer.

This is why the billing is about 24 hours behind. However, you can of course have up to date info by checking the call timers on your phone, just reset them on the morning of your billing date each month.

thanks

Im on a o2 online sim contract and get my Bill via Email on the morning of the 11th of every month, so do i reset my counter on my phone for calls on the 10th am/pm or 11th am/pm

also is best to set a reminder on my phone every month to do this because i always keep forgetting.

to answer the question, you should reset your timers on your bill date. I.e. to be precise at 0:00:01 hours on the morning of your bill date.

As i stated, the network is about 24 hours behind, thats why you may some late landing calls one the month afters bill.

if this needs explaining more just askamondo...

cheers guys

Thanks for the info/advice O2dude, just looking at what your saying about billing being 24 hrs behind, i think this can be approximately 24 hrs cant it only some days i have checked my bill via online on an evening and can see txt,s and calls i have made the morning of that day have already been logged and shown on my bill, which is a good thing, shame they cant do it in real time these days with all the technology out there, like pay n go customers can check their credit via their mobile i.e (*#10# & 4444) and it tells them exactly how many texts and calltime they have left right after a call but we on contract have not got this availible, unless we have and dont know about it.

Cratan - it is approximately 24 hours behind. This means that yes, sometimes when you look at the online bill, the last registered call could very well be that morning or just the evening before. The feature is not available due to the way the network operates, read my post above and it should explain itself. If you want i can look into the reasons as to why Prepay have this facility.

CAZ - o2 do advise on how much inclusive allowance you have remaining, but this advise should always be followed with a statement saying its about 24 hours out, therefore any minutes and messages used within this period should be taken out of the equation.

... And finally, just to answer someone elses question before you post it - international minutes and messages can very well take weeks to arrive on your bill - this is due to international networks. These are referred to as 'late landing' calls - so incase you see minutes from spain 2 months after you were there, just check them over (date, time and number called) and you will see it isnt a duplicate.

thanks

p.s. any q's about online billing - fire em my way

cratan and caz - which part of o2 do you belong to? O2 select or O2 Consumer?

Select dial 402 for FREE calls to customer services.

Consumer dial 202 for calls which come out of your minutes (essentially this is free unless you go over of course)

Dont dial 402 to get put through to consumer from select, as they wont do it.

The pop3 email settings can be sent directly to your HOME email inbox if you call customer services.

They are only available to be sent this way as its done manually. An advisor could talk you through it mind, but it may take a few minutes.

So give them a shout and its a piece of piss to do.

Also - it sounds like you are on o2 online, therefore (i think) your customer care number is not free. but you can always dial 202 and it be taken from your minutes and they will probably deal with you. 402 will not.
