unlocking lg u880.. need help!!!

i'm trying to unlock my u880 using ftdi usb cable with the software that i purchased from fonefunshop. however i dont understand with this line: Connect 2in1 LG 8110 com and USB cable to your USB Port, you do not need to connect the com connector to PC for this unlock.

anyway the main problem is the software can't detect the usb so it does not come up in the select port box. i did install the usb driver correctly

have i done something wrong? in this case when should we switch on the phone??

im not sure it works with ftdi cables, as we use either standard file transfer cables that come with the phone or comms/usb flash cables

the cable we use does not need drivers, its the phone that needs drivers, so your cable may not be compatable, or port on phone is damaged.

Yes it works well with standard usb. Many Thx for the solution!!! However i just found out that it's not permanently unlocked because everytime i restart i have to type in that code. is there any way to unlock the phone permanently?
