hi guys,
I used the unlocking clip on my d500, and it allows me to use sims other than t-mobile (the original network), and with an o2 sim it functions properly, calls etc. However, the purpose of unlocking the phone was to use it with my orange sim, but after using the clip i get the 'limited service' message.... help?!

well if you dont think its blocked ring your network provider and explain your problem and see what advice they give you
unlocking your phone with a mini clip cannot cause this sort of problem

k, well the sim O2 that works properly was unregistered, but the orange one was already reg. and it doesnt.... i didn't say the clip caused the problem, i just want my phone to work with my orange sim, so i want to know why, using the clip, i cannot unlock it properly....

Right,,,listen to me
the phone is unlocked and the clip has done its job
if it hadnt done its job you wouldnt have got as far as limited service/ unregisted sim etc.
if the phone was locked still it would ask for a network code
it doesnt ask for this code because it is unlocked
now the reason you get limited service (o2) or unregisted sim (orange) is because allthough the sim is accepted (phone unlocked) the network has blacklisted your phone for 1 of 3 reasons
1. the phone has been reported stolen
2. the phone has been reported lost
3. none payment of contract.
now what you probably havent told us is where you got the phone, ie you got it the following way
1. you mugged someone for it
2. you bought it from some smackhead who probably did mug someone for it
3. you found it
4. you bought it off a smackhead through ebay
5. you bought it off a friend who robbed it out of some poor buggers car
6. you bought it from a lucky lucky nigerian story teller just outside marmaris market
7. you swapped 8 balloons and a packet of pegs for it at the local flea market
8. and this is the usal way to get these phones. "i got it off a mate"
either way you have a barred phone. and you should contact the person you got it from.
if you need anymore info on barred phones look at http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/Unlocking/barred.htm

i appreciate the complete lack of trust and the somewhat offensive suggestions that you've made. i bought the phone on t-mobile pay as you go last year (from a highstreet phone shop), and if you read my post, what i am saying is that the phone works fully on O2 using a new sim that i have not yet registered, since using the clip. what i was confused by is the 'limited service' message i recieve when using an orange sim. i don't have this problem with any other network on this phone.

lmao@ mark
ok mate the clip cannot unlock your phone and leave one network unlocked
if your not recieving the orange network may be caused because of a weak signal in your area
or there may be a fault with the phones antenna

i thought that too, hence the confusion, the signal is usually okay here, what would you suggest with regards to antenna faults? i.e. how to get this checked out....? ta

you could try another orange sim from a mate that you know is ok
if its still the same then take it to a repair shop
