can i put an o2 sim straight in to a tesco phone or will i need to get the phone unlocked

Tesco buy their airtime off O2 so an O2 sim will work.

When i had a K800i (locked to O2) i tried a Tesco sim in it and it came up TESCO with full signal, 3G didnt work though. Could not ring or text as it had no credit but with a full signal that would work anyway
