Can't connect with USB cable

I have a LG VX6100 not the most powerful thing in the world but anyways.

i bought a USB cable and it came with all the drivers which i've installed but i can't get any pics out of my phone, nor can i transfer any ringtones. It just says can't connect. I'm using LG Contents Bank is there anything else out there thats free that will work??

btw the phone is on USB mode to connect to PC
