problem with e800 clip

I bought a samsung e800 clip to unlock my e330, but it doesnt seem to work!
I plugged it in and noting came up pn the phone, and the red led just stayed on, what am i doing wrong, also how long should it be plugged in before somthing happens?

on the E330 it's a slightly different procedure, as when unlocking the e800 you do not power on the phone


E330 instructions
----------------

power phone off, no sim inserted
connect clip
power on phone
wait for led to flash
phone unlocked
take out battery and insert the sim you wish to use

how long does it take before the led starts flashing?

try a sim in it that the phone would not accept before, just see if it has unlocked it
